Nottingham has a great choice of pubs and bars - from some of the oldest in England to the hottest in the midlands. Our top recommendations include:
Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Brewhouse Yard
1189, not the address but the year Ye Olde Trip was established. In the shadow of the castle (in fact built into its bedrock) it oozes charm and character. Happily they have resisted turning it into a tourist trap and it still serves great drinks and good food at reasonable prices with great atmosphere which is why it tops our list
The Approach, Friar Lane
Nottingham's best sports bar with large screens on each wall and 2 massive projectors. They also host regular comedy nights (usually every Sunday) which are great place to spot up and coming acts and touring favourites
Walkabout, Friar Lane
Attracting a mixed crowd, Walkbout Nottingham is always a fun but chilled vibe and great start for new arrivals to the city
Lloyd's No.1 Bar, Carlton St
An excellent choice for smokers with good outdoor [heated] area which catches the sun on those balmy summer evenings
Wax Bar, Broad St
Lovely continental style cafe bar and popular place to spend the evening unwinding with friends
The Pitcher & Piano, Weekday Cross
Located in a converted Unitarian Church on Broad Street this massive venue is one of the party hotspots and great fun in the evening
