City of Caves

Descend deep beneath the city into the Anglo-Saxon tunnels to meet the real life troglodytes of Nottingham. Discover the lives of the people who lived and worked in the manmade caves of Nottingham at the fascinating City of Caves exhibition located within the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre.

Museum of Nottingham Life

Entry to the Museum of Nottingham Life is included in the Nottingham Castle ticket price and is located at the base of Castle Rock, under 5 minutes walk from the castle. The museum explores the social changes that have taken place over the last 300 years with reconstructed scenes of daily life including rooms, period shops and even a Victorian Schoolroom. Afterwards visit Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem Inn for refreshing drink or bite to eat.

Southwell Minster

With its majestic Norman nave, glorious 13th Century Chapter House and distinctive pyramidal lead spires visit the village of Southwell, about 20km northeast of Nottingham, to uncover one of the least known but most beautiful cathedrals in England.

Wollaton Hall & Deer Park

There is so much to do at Wollaton Hall & Deer Park a family could easily spend the whole day here. Located 4.8km outside city (catch NCT 30 bus from Victoria Centre) and set in picturesque gardens and parkland

• The Hall

  The striking Elizabethan architecture and stunning interiors of Wollaton Hall have been wonderfully restored. If you can we would recommend joining one of the guided tours but if you prefer to take your time exploring there are some insightful audio-visual interpretations to enjoy as you follow the route through the rooms, salons and kitchens.

• Natural History Museum

  Situated within the hall is the Nottingham Natural History Museum containing some astounding specimens from geology, botany and zoology.

• Industrial & Transport Museum

  Situated in the stables and outbuildings of the original hall, the Industrial Museum includes working steam and barn engines, miniature fairground, 1940’s telephone exchange and working blacksmiths. The last Sunday of every month (please visit their site to reconfirm dates) are Sunday Steaming Events when the engines are bought to life and you can experience the power of steam.

  Watching the herds of red and fallow deer freely roaming through the parkland is an amazing sight
